Saturday SCS Lakers U12s Show Incredible Character in Thriller 10:00am, 20 December 2025, Court 1

The Saturday SCS Lakers U12s were part of a home-court classic this weekend, falling just short in a 35-34 "nail-biter" against the Phoenix Flames Ravens. While the final score moved their record to 2-4, the numbers only tell half the story; the match was a game defined by grit, momentum swings, and sheer determination. From the opening tip, it was clear neither side would give an inch. Nathaniel 'Syd' Malveda got the Lakers on the board early, and momentum shifted back and forth until Oscar and Adi Ganesh fueled a run to grab a 9-5 lead. The Ravens proved resilient, clawing back to tie it, but a standout first-half performance from Oscar ensured the Lakers headed into the locker room with a slim 17-15 advantage.

The second half turned into an offensive clinic, headlined by a near-perfect shooting display from Josh Evans and Oscar. Evans was simply unstoppable, turning in a flawless 13-point performance on 6-of-6 shooting, while Oscar remained efficient to the tune of 12 points on 6-of-7 from the field. Together, they maintained the Lakers' dominance, maintaining a 30-27 lead well into the final period. The closing minutes were pure chaos: the Ravens briefly surged ahead, only for Hunter Caroll to answer with a clutch bucket to reclaim the lead. Oscar then delivered what looked like the final blow to put the Lakers up 34-33, but a last-second score by the Ravens allowed them to escape with the win. Despite the result, the Lakers proved they can compete with anyone, supported by Syd Malveda’s great shooting and vital contributions from Adi Ganesh and Hunter Caroll.
